Beijing University of Chinese Medicine American Alumni Association

Message from the president of the association,

On behalf of the entire family of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) alumni in the United States of America (USA), I'm pleased to introduce you to the BUCM American Alumni Association, and to offer my vision for the Association in the 21st century.

The history of the BUCM American Alumni Association is a spontaneous response to the call from practitioners, professors, researchers, and scientists for enhancing the understanding and promoting the practice of acupuncture and oriental medicine, patients seeking help from traditional Chinese medicine, and community members and other health care workers in the American society seeking to improve community and individual health. In the year 2014, alumni of BUCM in the USA gathered together and successfully established the BUCM American Alumni Association. During the past one year, the Association has rapidly expanded to include more than 200 members all over the United States. Members include practitioners, professors, researchers and scientists from both the conventional and alternative medicine fields. With our members' expertise in acupuncture, herbal medicine, other traditional Chinese medicine healing methods including Qi Gong and Tai Chi and as well as conventional western medicine and our connections with our alma mater BUCM, the Association aims to strengthen the ties between conventional western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, enhance the understanding of traditional Chinese medicine and promote its accessibility and application, and thus possibly to lower the medical cost and increase the quality of care in the American society.

The BUCM American Alumni Association is uniquely capable of answering this call and fulfilling these dreams. Members of the Association has long been strong propellers in the explosion of knowledge and increased understanding of acupuncture and oriental medicine, professional health care providers for patients with a wide range of needs ranging from regular pain relief to post-chemical/radiotherapy cancer care, and educators of American acupuncturists, oriental medicine practitioners, as well as physicians in the integrative medicine fields. With expertise and experiences in these fields, members of the Association seek to integrate excellence in both traditional Chinese medicine and conventional medicine to protect, promote, and enhance the health of our people in the nation. The BUCM American Alumni Association endeavors to enhance the communication between the East and the West from the academic fields, in the clinical practices and research studies, and for the daily life of ordinary people in the nation.

We pursue this dreams because they are worthy goals for any people or organization in the American society, particularly for the BUCM American Alumni Association, an association in the nation uniquely suited to be a beacon of hope and light for all in the acupuncture and oriental medicine world. I invite you to join us as a BUCM alumni in the USA to work together for the dreams of increased accessibility and enhanced quality of care in acupuncture and oriental medicine.
